(wow, just an absolutely phenomenal song. Deep emotions that clearly come from the heart. A promise to be the bridge the carries the person to the other side instead of them having to wade troubled waters. The most endearing part is the promise to never be alone. I firmly believe if I ever dedicate this song to someone in my heart, i am irrevocably in love)
El Condor Pasa (If I Could) 🟦
(If I ever go to a ren fair this would be on the Playlist alongside Vashti Bunyan. But i like the lyricism and illustration of the sparrow and snail. The whole song follows the idea of wanting to be the one at the top of a chain, the boss not the worker, the predator not the prey, or the one of action not the object.)

(sonically the song isn't my favorite on the album however I really like the idea of being open and honest about how draining and overall difficult it is to be in the direct spotlight of the media. They noted that everywhere they go they are slandered. You think about how most people who join the entertainment industry just love music and want to create to share. Its supposed to be a space to connect with other people but instead you have so many people pressing in on you measuring you even to your past self. Notably he says in the intro "Gee, but its great to be back home. Home is where i wanna be." This could mean that despite all of the hate they get they are happy to be back and creating another album since time had passed since their previous one or the literal meaning of finding comfort in a familiar environment around family and friends without judgement from the public and the media.)

(what??? the architect? A goodbye song to the architect??? Also the way they say architects is weird. After some reading on the song Garfunkel was a student at Columbia University and Frank was his professor. Garfunkel asked Simon to write a song about frank after he passed. The sentiment is sweet however using his full name was certainly a choice. )
