this movie was DEVASTATING. it was so violent and emotionally tender and left me with that stagnant feeling in my chest that most great movies tend to do. I've said it before and ill say it again charlie Heaton needs to play MORE sad characters. he just has the face for it. from my letterboxd- Lastly, the scene in which Jack puts on lipstick is so wonderful because as a viewer I can see how unfamiliar it is to him- how he clumsily puts it on and gets it on the skin around his lips. It’s alien and that's so obvious for the audience to see- and I think Jack feels so too.

this was genuinly one of the most visually beautiful movies I've ever seen. I loved the transitions between the stop motion style of filming and the more conventional format. the aesthetics of this movie were sincerely wonderful- I love the plethora of glitter, unicorns, and purple. they really nailed the innocence and childlike aspect cinematographically. I think the actual storyline was really realistic and blunt which contrasts really well the fairytale and symbolism aspect of it. the emotions portrayed by Natalie Dyer felt extremely real and I hated Sterling so the actor did a good job there! I liked it. it made me feel things. probably will not rewatch tho :(
