My first book by Cassandra Clare. I haven't read The Mortal Instruments, but I much prefer this series, which is less contemporary/modern and has more historical fantasy vibes.

My kind of historical rom-com, fake dating-ish with secret pining. They are so obsessed with each other, but both of them are too oblivious and in denial to notice it, which is hilarious. Briggs is such a man-child in a good way, and I love how Blythe is always on his mind. Who doesn't want a yearning man like that?

The first mystery/thriller I've read, and honestly, I didn't regret picking this book from that store. Pip can be really stubborn and headstrong, but I love her determination in solving the case to get Sal and Andie the justice they deserved. Another thing, Ravi is such a sweet guy who's as determined to help her, and I love their story buildup throughout the end.

This book has a unique storyline that I've read. The magic system is a genius idea where it's stuck on cards, and they have to tap them to harness the magic the card offers. How can I forget Ravyn and Elspeth? The tension, the secret pining, the fake courtship — it all has me giggling.
