Of the few action films produced in Mexico, this one boasts high production values and a coherent storyline. It breaks away from the themes typically explored in Mexican cinema, and while it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, it achieves—and exceeds—the most important goal: entertaining the audience.
As the name suggests, the film follows a special forces unit after one of its captains survives an assassination attempt. Knowing the culprits are within the army, he gives everything he’s got to track them down and make them pay in blood.
The Highlights
• Action Choreography: Truly impressive. Being a pure action flick, the car chases and shootouts are constant and expertly executed.
• Tone: It’s refreshing that the film avoids the clichés it easily could have fallen into; for the most part, it maintains a serious tone.
The Drawbacks
The only real downside was the cinematography at the beginning. It is far too dark, making it difficult to figure out who is who, where they are, and what exactly is happening.
Overall Verdict: Aside from those lighting issues, I really enjoyed this "guns-blazing" flick
