Though it was more like a theatrical play than a movie, I appreciated how it portrayed the complicated nature of the relationship between two particular gay men. One was willing to entertain the idea of a threesome just to keep his partner happy and by his side, while the other despised the thought of it despite being a serial cheater. When I was younger, I had a righteous, almost naive view of love—it was supposed to be pure, devoted, and untainted. But the more I’ve experienced people and their personal worlds, the more I’ve come to understand the twisted reality of love. Sometimes it’s messy, desperate, even vile, and yet it can be impossibly hard to let go of.
