This is to me an average book. As a Romantasy, the romance was compelling and emotional. I love the scenes between the to MCs, their dynamics were unique though it started out as a bit of the typical ‘enemies’ trope, but as we dove deeper into their characters, we saw more depth to them then just the ‘I hate you’s. I think that the author wrote the main plotline really well. It was engaging and interesting, and with some twists that took me by surprise (I should be able to see it coming, but it was 2am in the morning so, what can I say.) My major gripe with this book is the worldbuilding and the settings. I don’t know if it’s just me, but I had trouble remembering the names of the groups of people in this book, and I usually fair pretty well with them. I could not keep track of who’s who, and if it weren’t for the search function of my kindle, I would have a much harder time to catch up with the story. I also find it hard to picture the world and some of the details would throw me off guard because they would be so out of place in the scene I have imagined in my head. But in the end, the plot took a great turn and the reveal was quite worth the journey. I would be reading the next book.
