EEAAO is so close to my heart, from the beautiful cinematography to the amazing performances and dialogue, everything about this film was crafted with so much care. i ADORE Evelyn and Joy’s relationship, it’s such a beautiful representation of how complicated and deep the mother-daughter love can be, the final scene between them never fails to make me cry :( my favorite character might be Joy/Jobu Tupaki. honestly Jobu Tupaki has a lot of my favorite lines, “Feels nice, doesn't it? If nothing matters, then all the pain and guilt you feel for making nothing of your life goes away. Sucked, Into, A bagel...” this line alone captured depression and how it can trap us in a nihilistic worldview that justifies destroying ourselves and hurting our loved ones so well. also, “Not a single moment will go by without every other universe screaming for your attention. Never fully there. Just a lifetime of fractured moments… With only a few specks of time where anything actually makes any sense.” GOD, I LOVE THIS ONE, it’s so haunting and a perfect portrayal of regret that keeps building up in our hearts with each unfulfilling decision that we make.
