Overall I really loved Stranger Things season 5. It felt intense, emotional, and full of surprises. But honestly, Will’s mom still feels a bit too menye menye for me. She is caring, but sometimes the energy is still a bit too much. Nancy in this season is insanely cool. She is very badass, especially when she is on her own. The way she takes control, makes tough decisions, and faces danger head on really shows how much she has grown. She does not wait to be protected anymore. She becomes the one protecting others. Meanwhile Jonathan feels so unclear and lost. It is frustrating to watch. He is stuck with his own doubts and insecurities, and it makes him feel left behind compared to Nancy’s growth. His whole effort to fix things with Nancy feels messy and dragged out, and honestly, Nancy deserves more. She has outgrown him, and the contrast between them is very obvious this season. I also feel annoyed with Eight Kali Keyla or whatever her name is. She keeps calling Eleven her sister, but she does not even try to blend in with Eleven’s family and friends. Instead of supporting Eleven’s life in Hawkins, she keeps pushing her to separate herself from the people who clearly care about her. It feels selfish, and honestly, it is really annoying. That said, the twists and unexpected moments are truly amazing. They kept me hooked until the end. Every reveal feels shocking in a good way, and the tension never really disappears. But the ending does not feel like an ending. For a season that is supposed to be the last one, it strangely feels like there could still be another season coming. It feels emotional, but also unfinished. I also have mixed feelings about Henry One Vecna. After five big seasons of buildup, his death feels surprisingly simple. Not bad, just a bit too easy for such a major villain. One thing that really made me happy is Will finally getting his own spotlight. He did so great this season, and his growth feels real and earned. Watching him stand out on his own is one of the best parts of season 5. I really love how the season closes with the DnD game and the main cast together. It feels nostalgic and full circle. Though it does feel a little incomplete without Eleven being there. Overall, season 5 is emotional, thrilling, and chaotic in the best way. It may not feel like a perfect goodbye, but it is still a very memorable one.
