I don't really know how to feel about this book, it's beautifully written and i can completely understand why people like it so much but it was not really my book. The first part was undoubtedly my favourite, it presents the dynamic of the book and the main plot. Basically it's about how a woman has a very strange dream and decides to become a vegetarian but it's telled from the perspective of her husband, who doesn't seem to really like her and it's in general an ass. As the chapter goes on you can see how pretty much all the people in the book are so weird about her not eating meat to the point where they hit her and punish her. The first part ends with her trying to k herself and then being left by her family on a mental asylum. The second part was the worst for me, I'm not really going into detail with this one because I can't even describe what happens, but basically the narrator in this part is the husband of the sister of the vegetarian who is an artist or smt, and starts fantasizing about the vegetarian after he had to carry her to the hospital when the attempt happened. And also after his wife told him about a mark that her sister had, i don't really remember the name of the mark but it was something that only kids have and it fades as they grow. This chapter is so wrong and uncomfortable, but is that what makes it so interesting because you can really tell that what the author was trying to do is transmit that discomfort when you read it. The third part was kind of boring to me, it talks about the perspective of her sister after she leaves her husband for the things that happened in the second chapter, and also how she has to take care of her sister (cause no one else would) as she gets progressively worse, she stops eating completely, stops taking and basically doesn't move because she starts to think she's becoming a tree. This part felt weird but also with a very deep message in general, also in the end you can't really tell what happens and it's just left open there. I mean i liked it in some way but also i think i might have to reread it cause i feel like i didn't get it 100% soo, I would recommend you to read it as well and yeah that's it.
