Tracks + Ratings Baby, This Love I Have 🟪 (I've only ever heard one song by Minnie Riperton and it was completely different from this song. I could see this song having a resurgence now.) Feelin' That The Feeling's Good 🟦 When It Comes Down To It 🟩 Minnie's Lament 🟩 Love And It's Glory 🟩 (awesome intro begins with a harp. Sounds so magical. Telling the story of young love and needing to seize the opportunity otherwise you'll be filled with regret. The main characters name is Maya, the same as Minnie's daughter. It is like she is giving this advice to her daughter to chase love even if it your parents don't approve.) Adventures In Paradise 🟩 ( i don't like the whistle note, sounds like tea kettle but I love her raspy growl to add some funk to the song) Inside My Love ⬛️ Alone In Brewster Bay 🟪 ( I would listen to this on a roadtrip up the west coast in the winter or fall. Seeing the red woods and its kind of gloomy. On the Oregon coast.) Simple Things 🟩 Don't Let Anyone Bring You Down 🟦 Ratings Key: ⬛ (Blacklisted) 🟥 (Awful) 🟧 (Would Not Listen To) 🟫 (Meh) 🟦 (Okay) 🟩 (Good) 🟪 (Amazing) 💯 (Perfect)
I did some research on this Artist and I think she's simply amazing. For starters, she used a real lion on the cover of the album and I think it may be the coolest cover of an album to ever exist. The lion was named Simba. Later on when filming promotional commercials a different lion almost attacked. Also Minnie died at the age of 31, and left behind two kids. Her daughter is Maya Rudolph. She announced she had breast cancer on the tonight show. And continued touring even though she was only given 6 months to live. She outlived that timeliness and died in 1979 after being diagnosed in '76. Minnie was known for her impressive five octave vical range and whistle register. I really love her voice and her style. I could see myself listening to the album as a whole again
