high key the best historical dracin I've ever watched (not like I've watch that many historical drama hahah). so let's talk about it. plot? absolutely delivered. peak yearning, peak romance, peak villain mode, peak strong fml ALL IN ONE SITTING GOSH. this drama is literally the definition of romcom. the romances and comedies is so well balance I couldn't ask for more. I love how they break walls between modern and historical time in the drama. it felt like I was being included when all those modern jokes were said HAHA. the drama was very entertaining for me because I have never seen any drama that cross dimension like that yet (ps they even make guns to fight rebellion pls I'm wheezing when the army literally tossed their blades and use guns 🤣) lemme say first and foremost, I love wangchuran. how come I've only met her here? not to be dramatic but I would kill for that look. she have such a radiant energy both in and out of character, I would love to watch her other drama. I love her 'i don't give a fuck I'm a modern women who got transmigrated' attitude in the drama HAHA. she was so charming that I think she would not need to stretch her armways to recruit me if I am one of the characters. honorary mention for her nails, I was always distracted when her nails got on screen 😭. chenglei? his first drama that I watch was the legend of the female general. I quit half way because I don't really like the fml acting and the plot kinda slow I donno. but here? I love his micro expression !! the sudden tweak in his personality between xiahaodan (puppet emperor) and zhangsan (his real name and personality) gave me goosebumps. his acting as a tyrant emperor was so gewd I wish he would put me on a leash (jk or maybe not?). the chemistry between character? bombastic. someone said, you know the actors ate when you can't imagine them in any other setting/drama playing other characters. and I am not just talking about the chemistry between the ml and fml, all other characters from the ministers, eunuchs, physicians, servants, secret guards, women in the harem etc, they all did such a great job playing their role, truly phenomenal. the pacing was good for my slow ass processor because every episode is enjoyable and absolutely hilarious while actually comprehendable, I look like a madman when I laugh out loud by myself. the only thing I would complain is how much the important characters or the character that contribute to the plot needlessly have their life taken...... like yong'er death is absolutely unnecessary wooooi. I swear she could have had a happy ending on her own. why do dracin always need to kill such loveable character 😥😥 ost cinematography? cooool. honorary mention to the cinematographic team, it feels like I'm living in the wuxia era. everything looks so beautiful it was almost a shame everything is build for a fiction. fun fact, the unsatisfactory happy ending of the drama is actually not the real ending to the story. truth is, after wanyin join the court as partner to the emperor, they live happily for quite more years and even have a prince as their successor. unfortunately, the already sick haodan die first of middle age and wanyin rule the empire as the first empress. she then die of old age and got return to her modern world just before she enter the novel. they say, when haodan die, he also got return to the time just before he got transmigrated which is when he is in middle school. so he then grow up in the hope to meet wanyin in the future. to his worries, the novel they transmigrated might not be popular anymore in the future. so he actually become a CEO and make the novel popular again so that wanyin company would ask her read it, then that's how the transmigration would happen. hence I'll wrap up my yapping of the my first wuxia dracin in 2026 (possibly my best wuxia dracin yet). in honor of the haodanXwanyin @ CEOdanXyinjie @ zhangsanXhuahua couple, here's my fav couple pic of them 😍
