there's a bad taste left in my mouth after finishing this :') Charlotte,,,, did deserve a terrible ending, yes. but the men who do things to her getting away scot-free? NOT cool. the most satisfactory ending would have had seen all of them burnt to ashes. and let's not even talk about the commentary on beauty. the audacity this empire has to be calling some of the prettiest people ugly,,,, who the hell even decided who's ugly and who's not cuz beauty is so objectively subjective???? on a different note, i genuinely think the hidden main character is Monaco instead. went on to become empress just like she wanted, and all of it fell directly into her lap without her having to lift a single finger lolol. all in all, this manhwa had SO much potential. it could have engaged in social commentary — both on beauty and misogyny (not that the two are very different) — but it didn't. glossed over it in like 2 speech bubbles. disappointing but I've come to not expect much from random rofans I picked up just cuz I liked the synopsis lol.
