I might not be the target audience, as I'm just a casual backrooms enjoyer – I like the concept of an unnatural sub-level to our reality which somewhat mirrors it in a hall of mirrors style.
I think the portrayal of the backrooms' architecture and weirdness is done well, and the work put in SFX really shines through, but the acting didn't hook me. While I think the protagonist is played quite convincingly, I absolutely couldn't stand the therapist especially during the confrontation scene. I have no idea if a sequel or any sort of continuation is scheduled to come out, but if not I'm even more disappointed. This did not feel like a full-scale movie, but more so like an episode of a series. I did not expect any basic aspects to be explained as the unknown has always been the whole point of the backrooms, but I highly anticipated some sort of elaboration on what already exists within this universe.
