school starts on the eighth, & I’ve now decided to lock tf in, at the last moment, hopefully it won’t always be like this.
my new mattress came in today as well and now I have a slightly bigger bed, and a taller one for sure
earlier today I realized that my 10hr+ screentime is definitely not healthy and I’m going to try to dumb it down and be more productive on my phone.
I’m starting to feel like a zombie the amount of time that I’m on my phone theses days, scrolling, saving, & consuming instead of creating and I’m not really consuming good things, I mean I do sometimes like reading a substack article or listening to a podcast.
I still spend much more time on
Pinterest, WEBTOON, Telegram & YouTube.
and probably more apps
I don’t have a good sleep schedule mine is constantly inconsistent and horrible for me, it’s currently 12:47am the next day as I’m writing this……
my bedtime is supposed to be
10:00pm & wake up at 06:00am
but the last time I woke up at 6am was because I had something important to get to,
(which was surgery)
I’m almost 14 y/o and I am really confused about so much and concerned too, I mean I miss the days that my phone wasn’t everything to me like going outside, longer attention span, physical media, having a sleep schedule where I could wake up by myself on time.
I also think moving took a big toll on me as well, cuz all I did in that hotel was constantly be on a device
and starting 6th grade, making new friends, the ungodly amount of homework, grading pressure, & probably more
in elementary school grades didn’t matter as much and I did pretty well in elementary school.
(there was almost no homework & assignments could be turned in a couple days later) now you have strict deadlines and if late that’s 25% deduction off your grade,
but my 7th grade science teacher said
“75% is better than nothing”
or at least something similar to that. I mean he was right a zero brings down your grade a lot, depending on what your overall grade was before.
I really dislike the American education system.
We pay are teachers almost nothing basically, they don’t teach home ec, cursive, typing, multiple languages (usually one required to graduate high school, in my case Spanish) etc.
you learn some of those things in communications but that’s not a class everyone can take its optional.
at least my school has a good orchestra & band program (I personally play the cello) we recently got a new principal last year & the school is starting to improve (we got new chrome books) ours were old & slow.
anyways school seems to only be about grades in my eyes & gives me a bunch of anxiety mostly for presentations
[I really don’t like being the center of attention]
now that I’ve ranted about a lot, cheers to look forward to a productive weekend,
