Damn, this exceeded my expectations. I had such a damn good time watching this in the cinema. Never in my life did I imagine that a (anti-)hero movie mixed with horror, specifically body horror, could work THIS well. I was genuinely locked in from start to finish. It has all the comic book elements and vibes without losing the mature, grounded essence of a live-action horror slash superhero adaptation. And I mean it, I loved every second of it. Every actor absolutely nailed their role. Ohhh, Matt Hagen, I love you. It's even possible that I like this more than "Joker". While "Joker" is packed with ideologies and social commentary that make you think, while "Clayface" lets me sit back, enjoy the ride, and have a damn good darn time without having to overthink everything. Sometimes, that's all I need from a movie, and this one delivers. The moral of the story? I guess revenge is the best way after all…if the world turns you into a monster, might as well give it a reason to be afraid of you. My only nitpick is that the pacing feels a little too fast at the beginning, then slows down from the middle to the end, making it feel inconsistent. But honestly, it didn't take away from my overall experience. (Although, can the two people sitting behind me PLEASE shut the hell up? They wouldn't stop talking throughout the entire movie, smh😤). I really, REALLY hope Matt Hagen aka Clayface gets a future in the DCU after this. GIVE THIS MAN MORE SCREEN TIME.
