well, what can i say about studio ghibli's art style? the colour palette is absolutely gorgeous in this one movie. even the poster itself is already a masterpiece ☄️ i always love it when the colour palette is dominated by blue, green, or yellow. so, it looks SOOOOO pleasing! i heard that the story is actually inspired by a real person's life story with the same name as the main character, horikoshi jiro. idk anything about the man, but the story of finding your true love while reaching for your biggest dream is undoubtedly interesting. many ppl criticized jiro's decision to prioritize his dream over his moment with his wife, but as i can see in the other scenes, it's safe to say that he actually loves naoko deeply. it's time that is just too unpredictable... </3 the story uses "wind" to represent the passage of time and the unexpected moment in life. it brings inspiration, grief, happiness, guilt, hope, regret, dream, and many other emotional feelings. but throughout this metaphor, it can also be understood that those situations are just a phase or moment, like the passing wind. so, no matter what happened, everyone must keep finding new reason to continue to live & love 🕊️ + urggh, this anime is the one that makes me have double standard towards ppl who smoke. i know smoking is really bad. trust me, i also hate it. and i know what jiro did was wrong, especially with the fact that naoko was sick, but come on... it's jiro :/ but okay! minus 0.2 points in the review for the smoking part. the rest of it are still understandable for me, so it's still one of my favourite! 💘
Who has seen the wind? Neither I nor you: But when the leaves hang trembling, The wind is passing through.
