Oh, hey. Welcome back to me, bruisedballerina—or whoever the hell that is. Honestly? I have zero clue who she is either, okay? Every few weeks my brain just hits a reset button and I morph into a completely different human, which is why all my social media usernames look like a identity crisis in progress. My username is literally just a live broadcast of whatever chaotic mood I’m marinating in at 2 AM. But It’s still me, guys, I’m just… a girl Anyway, when I downloaded this app, used it for 1-2 days actively and then vanished into thin air? Yeah. There was no tragic backstory or dramatic exit—I literally just deleted it because I felt like it. Instead, I downloaded Letterboxd. And look, Letterboxd is… fine. But I’m already over it, and before anyone tries to mansplain my own personal beefs with an app back to me: don't. My petty grievances are mine, and they are valid First of all: the layout? Yawn. Total snooze fest. I am an absolute, shameless sucker for custom aesthetics. If I can’t customize the interface to look like an extension of my soul, I’m going to get bored and stop opening the app. I need pretty colors, okay? Second: the ads. The ads are driving me insane! I don't know if you guys are seeing them too, but every time a random pop-up jumps out at me, I get full-blown anxiety that my phone is about to catch a deadly cyber-virus. Absolutely not. Now, I’ve seen people tearing Letterboxd apart online, but honestly, I don't get the drama over the user reviews. Judging an app by its chaotic comment section is silly. It’s never the app’s fault—it’s just human nature running wild. We all have different brain cell counts and thought processes. Sure, half the people on there don’t know what a real film critique is, but honestly? Your review, your rules. Letterboxd isn't enforcing a thesis requirement, so write a single one-liner or a whole breakdown, do it the way you want. If you don't like someone’s unhinged review, swipe past it, yk. Why get your blood pressure up over a stranger's hot take when there are actual real-world problems to be mad about? There are millions of people on there—go find the cinephiles that match your vibe and stop trying to force your standards onto strangers. Life is way too short to lose sleep over how a teenager rated Shrek 2. And if you’re the one getting harshly criticized for your reviews? Look, constructive feedback is cool, but don't internalize bullshit from pixels on a screen. Keep being weird, just keep growing too. ...God, I’m so sleepy. I need to get my beauty sleep before whatever chaotic quest I have to face tomorrow. Bottom line: I’m officially back on my bullshit here. This app is honestly elite for brain-dumping. I can rant about movies, complain about video games, spit out random shower thoughts, and I get to customize the whole layout to match my aesthetic. Everything I want is right here xd
