Chiikawa is lyfeee. Chiikawa is everything. Absolute Chikuwa! 🍢😭 But jokes aside, this philosophical little fever dream wrapped in super cute and wondrfully abstract animation from Japan is SO worth watching. No wonder it made it to IMAX and became such a hit back in Japan. I knew absolutely nothing about the Chiikawa mascots before this. I was honestly just intrigued by the name because it sounded like some kind of seafood dish I’d probably eat lol, plus the animation style looked so distinct and super cute and adorable. But turns out, this movie goes way deeper...and darker...than I expected. Trust me, the cuteness is mostly just on the surface. Underneath all those adorable little faces, there’s actually a surprisingly deep message that I’m pretty sure would go completely over most kids’ heads. And I gotta give it to the jokes too, they’re genuinely fresh and consistently funny throughout. I was laughing for way longer than I expected hahahaha. So yeah, I guess I’m officially entering my Chiikawa era now… time to dive into the lore and hunt down the merch like everyone else🤣 Thanks Chiikawa, Hachiware & friends, you genuinely made my day. And yes, Rakko is MY favorite🗡
