Watched this because of work hehe. I’m usually not that into romance movies, but I believe this classic is basically one of the OGs of the enemy-to-lovers storyline and the love-hate relationship trope in modern romance, right? I could definitely see it. I really loved the portrayal of late 18th-century British life in the English countryside. It felt so spot-on, and the views were absolutely gorgeous. It genuinely looked like the world I had imagined from the book. I also love how the Bennet family dynamic was portrayed. Even though they’re a big family with completely different personalities, you can really feel their chemistry and how each of them fits into the family. But going back to the whole enemy-to-lovers/love-hate relationship thing, I kinda felt like Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy’s relationship wasn’t shown that much? It seemed more focused on Elizabeth’s own internal struggle with her feelings rather than the actual development of their relationship. Is that also why this whole thing is called "Pride and Prejudice"? 👀 I honestly feel like this story would work even better as a series. Maybe then it wouldn’t feel so rushed. As for the dialogue, I really loved some of the very literary, very British lines they threw around, even though I had a hard time fully understanding a lot of them hahaha. I’m pretty sure like 80% of this movie is quotable tho. *I guess it’s a constant reminder that I really need to read more classic books, expand my English vocab, and train my ears to understand British accents better hahaha.
