today's bird is the pigeon! a pigeon has a compact body and a small head. its feathers are generally gray, with iridescent highlights around the neck. it has short legs and powerful wings that allow it to fly rapidly. originally inhabiting terrestrial environments but—in the case of some species—spreading to the lowlands and cities, they feed primarily on seeds, though they adopt a much broader diet near sources of food waste, earning them the occasional nickname of "urban scavengers." pigeons are highly adaptable and can be found almost everywhere in the world, except in extreme deserts and polar regions. they love living near humans, so you will often see them in cities, but also in the countryside, on cliffs, or even in forests. pigeons and doves belong to the same family : columbidae. fun fact! : did you know pigeons can fly up to 144 kilometeres per hour? and they can find their way home from hundreds of kilometeres away, which is why they were used to carry messages! ok so i know what ill do now, ill try to make shorter descriptions and incluse some facts! i think shorter descriptions are better anyway :D
