girl wtv 🤣🤣🤣🤣 on a serious note, pheem… OH PHEEEM... i have always begged the yaoi gods for YOUUUUUUU. i searched high and low for the perfect evil evil sadistic bottom and i found it in UUUU arghhh… i believe this series was tailor-made for me trope-wise! revenge yaoi? check!!! i love when they’re scheming!!! sibling rivalry? check!!!! morally dubious x righteous idealist? check!! woahhhhh when jason appeared and got introduced as pheem’s sugar daddy i have never stood up in my chair that fast my jaw was on the floor. this is the exact badassery i want in a bl. overlooking the vfx and continuity errors, this could've been a really good one??? like based on tropes alone, it’s good??? i definitely WOULD HAVE loved it. however. my major problem though is the story. again i really can’t have a full blast with how repetitive the plot gets and how out-of-nowhere most scenes are. when jason died, my first thought was: what the fuck??? you couldn’t have used him more as a plot device? my second thought was: that’s it? he dies and everything just resolves itself? and now we’re suddenly okayish with our evil manipulative dad and he’s just kissing his bodyguard?? well..... that's basically what happens to all of the antagonists throughout the entire show! :DD there’s so much wasted potential in all the characters tbh. none of the side characters were fleshed out and every death here felt so abrupt too. the directors clearly do not know how to handle a character let alone develop one. so they just kill them off. i’m starting to notice a pattern with how they approach a storyline: they cycle the same plot point over and over again until it reaches the point of fatigue then suddenly throw in some overarching conflict. it doesn’t matter whether the stakes are low or high as long as it drags on for a while before eventually getting resolved in a gunfight. and then again. and again. and again. not to mention how so many plot points either go completely unaddressed or get tied up in the loosest and laziest way imaginable. my god the more i think about it the more it actually pisses me off. and don’t even get me started on the relationship of the main couple. how do i even put it into words… it feels empty and off-putting. their actions and behaviors never seem to carry any believable consequences cos again the story refuses to properly confront its own conflicts and so neither character learns or grows in any meaningful way. the tone also swings way too jarringly. one moment they’re sweet, the next they're killing each other. the show never gives you the time to sit with or process anything bcs the pacing is so fast and erratic. frankly i don’t even care that much about the script at this point in the latter half of watching it i think it’s just whatever. that said this is probably the best role i’ve seen (and will see) from offroad HE WAS SO GOOD IN THIS. but then again… how long can you survive on good tropes alone before the repetitive plot starts to get boring… yk…
