I probably should review each of these novellas individually. I have a slightly different opinion on each of them. Sunreach | 4.75 ⭐️ It was the easiest one for me to 'get through', I think largely because I was so eager for the FM and Rig’s subplot to develop. However, I got a bit of a feeling that FM, acting as the narrator and main character, turned into a bit of a Wattpad-style protagonist. It felt like she was being invited everywhere even when she didn't have clearance, purely to keep the plot moving. That said, I'm grateful for a closer look at her perspectives and the empathy she kept hidden from the start - something she couldn't afford to show as a lethal pilot. ReDawn | 4.25 ⭐️ This one was a bit tougher to get through, but mostly because I was traveling. I was definitely intrigued by Alanik's character, though perhaps she was the one I cared about the least out of these three POVs? On the other hand, without her perspective, we wouldn't understand her character nearly as well in the next novella. It was also fascinating to see her home planet, her people, and her loved ones - how different her daily life is from the humans on Detritus, and what the UrDail have to grapple with every day. Evershore | 4.5 ⭐️ Jorgen's perspective was an incredibly important experience for fans of the series. In the main books, we knew him as a commander hiding firmly behind a mask, but we all knew he was bound to snap eventually. And he literally did in this novella. Jorgen has been one of my favorite characters from the very beginning, setting aside his romance with Spensa. I paused multiple times while reading this one, realizing just how much I relate to his character at times. I'm glad he got that kind of ending here.
