My mom, aunt and I drove eight hours to and from Nashville, Tennessee and stayed in a Holiday Inn for three days so that we could go to the Nissan Stadium on Thursday to see My Chemical Romance and Pierce the Veil. PTV was the opening band doing their own tour, so we didn't get to hear as many of their songs (alas), but they were SO good and Vic Fuentes is an absolutely talented cutie!! Also there was a girl a few seats away from us who I swore could be a singer for a screamo band if she invested in it, her throat had to be raw after that lmao. There were pictures rolling by on a slideshow on all the screens that had pictures of an eye and text saying "if you see something say nothing" along with nonsensical rules that sounded like they came straight out of Sims 3 patch notes. I really liked the dictator themes and the fact that they had us all stand for an anthem before the show actually started just to really solidify what the show was about. Gerard Way also had like nothing good to say about Nashville and as a tourist I don't blame him because the heat was making us all delusional. It seriously does not usually get this bad back in Kansas. Or maybe it does and I just suck. I don't know. Anyway. He also got smacked in the face and then Cancer started playing. They also had a lot of fire on stage. The artistic talent was obviously incredible, and I had no issues with either band. Here's my honest take though: I can't list anything actually interesting about the concert because I wasn't *there* for it. And what I mean by that is Nissan Stadium is a fucking terrible place to run a concert and I do not believe for one second that the heat and lack of water wasn't making me and other people dissociate. The water refill lines were ridiculous, and the merch lines were pretty big but that's not even what I'm concerned about. For a concert being run outside, THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH IMMEDIATE ACCESS TO WATER. From where I was sitting, the speakers were pretty bad. I could not hear what Gerard was saying, and I could not hear the full spectrum of sound when they were playing. It sounded like I was listening to compressed audio, and I knew something was off because the music would have beats of clear every once in a while and then would go right back to not even being worthy of headphones. I am not here to listen to an .mp3 of a concert, it's your job to make my eardrums burst or something. The fact that I, a sound sensitive person, didn't even need my headphones meant something was very wrong. I barely felt anything in my chest. I feel like I didn't actually go to this concert, I just went to an incredibly washed out version of it. That's basically it. I wish I could say more but I was pissed off and tired the whole time, my family didn't know what the hell they were doing all the time, and even now as I'm on the way back home I have no leftover excitement from any of it, I just wish I would've gone to like any other state for this, even if it would've meant not seeing PTV. So basically yeah go see My Chemical Romance, totally do it, they're so good and they're so talented. Don't go to Nashville. Please.
