If memories fade, does love fade with them? After watching A Moment to Remember, I found myself learning about Alzheimer, and it terrified me. It is heartbreaking, painful, and deeply unsettling. You slowly lose everything from precious memories to the most basic parts of everyday life. You forget the people you love, you struggle to recognize yourself, and those around you are left grieving someone who is still physically there. We spend our lives learning, collecting knowledge, and creating memories with the people we cherish. We are told that memories are among the most valuable things we possess. Yet a disease like Alzheimer's can slowly take them away, piece by piece. Perhaps that is what makes it so frightening. It forces us to ask what remains when memory begins to disappear. If memories fade, does love fade with them? I don't know the answer. All I know is that this film left me with more questions than certainty and a profound sadness I still can't quite put into words.
