This is like my 2nd exposure to Belgian cinema, which I also watched on the same platform as before (thankyou KlikFilm for your existence🙌🏻). And I can already feel a similar pattern here. I love how the Belgian films I’ve watched so far aren’t unnecessarily long, and even everyday activities that we might normally take for granted or just skip over in our own place can be turned into something worth putting on screen here. And it’s not done randomly either: everything still feels curated and carries a deeper meaning. Here, I could also see once again how strong and strict Belgium’s regulatory system seems to be. No wonder, considering the whole European justice system and all that. And the closer it gets to the end, the more emotionally heavy the film becomes, even though it doesn’t really give us the closure we might expect from the problem introduced in the synopsis. I really loved Léa Drucker’s performance too. She perfectly shows her professionalism as a health worker, while at the same time revealing her vulnerability and empathy toward Adam. Such a powerful performance, especially when she barely seems to show much emotion throughout the film. Oh, this film reminded me why I love cinema so much.
