bedevilled brutally illustrates how patriarchal systems dismantle a woman’s sense of safety, worth, and dignity. it infuriates me how men operate with total impunity, acting as if the universe exists solely for their gratification. i abhor how men receive applause for performing basic tasks, whereas women are dehumanized and treated like filth the moment they defy male authority. i despise how mothers are universally blamed whenever a child is harmed. and i detest the societal expectation that women must subserviently worship men. ​boknam’s fury was completely justified; what she did pales in comparison to the atrocities committed by the men on that island. rape, vilification, isolation, cruelty, and emotional destruction. i truly hope every woman finds a sanctuary in this life, because this movie reflects our real world power dynamics with painful clarity.
