My fourth grade English teacher never knew she changed the trajectory of my life by requiring us to watch this film. I come back to this film whenever I just want a good watch, or if I just miss the movie :') Manolo and Maria have my heart, they built on my standards. And I love how the film didn't fully demonize Joaquin, nor did they fully ruin the trio's friendship over their feelings for Maria. It's one of the healthier love triangles I've seen in media, actually. The character designs are absolutely stunning, and the details are so clever and meticulous, that I'm always in awe every time I see it. Oh and don't get me started on the SOUNDTRACK!!! Manolo's song when he was serenading Maria and the apology song?! Looped in my head! It is now a rite of passage for me to show this film to any friend who hasn't watched the film yet.
