this book is so popular that over the past 3 or 4 years it was so hard to avoid spoilers on booktok and I never thought I was going to read it until I got this copy for a cheap price (very understandable bc this copy is so bad 😃), but I must say I was pleasantly surprised. even while knowing plot points that should make mystery books like this less interesting, the writing sucked me in and I loved every minute I got to spend with our main character, pip. she made decisions that I'm sure she should've known better than to make, but I was so hooked that I kept wishing she'll just keep her unethicall ways. because she was so obsessed with finding out the truth, I by association just couldn't bring myself to want anything other than exactly that. I felt the things pip felt, when she crossed lines she shouldn't have for a 'school project' I felt like I was crossing nonexistent lines for a nonexistent school project, when she feared for her life I felt that fear with her, and that's what makes a good mystery/thriller. I can't wait to see what the next two books hold for pip's character bc from what I know things are about to go down hill and I'm so freaking excited
