3rd time watching it and still missing lots of easter eggs and more to analyze! finally the digital streaming version is out and we’re watching it alrd at my place. LOVE LOVE LOVE Inde’s acting, she’s amazing, she really makes the movie itself. More note to take: 1. “Innocent/Good Guy” Facade entitlement: funnt how Bear thinks he is the victim when he multiple times, consciously, took Nikkie’s rights away and bypass consent just for what he wants. He reduces her to a possession rather than an equal, driven by his own ego. 2. Loss of identity: Nikkie’s trapped in a fabricated reality, exhibiting increasingly desperate behavior because she is forced to fit in an identity that doesn’t fit herself. She was taken away from her autonomy. 3. Bear’s ego and view of love : Bear wants a perfect relationship fantasy without navigating realities of who Nikkie is or what she wants. 4. Lashing out Bear’s own insecurity over what harm he has done to others: When real Nikkie gained control and begged Bear to kill her to end her suffering; instead of reassuring her or realizing how painful it was for her; Bear showed his true colors; he doesn’t really care about Nikki at all, or he would treat her with some sort of kindness in that moment. Instead, he resents her, first for not loving him and then for the way she loves him. “is it really so bad to be with me?”, and abandoned her. surprise, Bear, that’s why no one wants to be with you, you selfish prick.
