i was reading GOTH and noticed something. i've read a fair share of japanese novels by now,(mostly thrillers or horror so maybe its why) but a lot of these novels i've read tend to leave the protagonist/narrator unnamed for a surprisingly long time. doesn't matter if it's first person or third person, sometimes you don't get a name until halfway through the book, near the end, or not at all. there's something oddly fascinating about spending hundreds of pages inside someone's head and still not completely understanding who they are (my annihilation messed w my head so bad btw)
