so far, i'm enjoying the prose. i love how khaw illustrates a scene with words. the characters though; they're not supposed to be likable, aren't they? i kind of find it hard to stick to the story since i'm more inclined to having a connection with the characters in terms of immersion. i'll keep reading to uncover whatever is going on in this mansion, plus i just can't stop taking in the lush prose.
