Love ecological horror, however it was quite a long read for me. Sure, there was a lot of different factors, but sometimes it was a long read because of the way flashbacks (if I can call them such) are written. Most of the times they are really good, but sometimes there are only there to showcase a character's personality or motivation (which is a good thing overall!) that does not necessarily fit to the plot or goes natural with the flow.
