There have been so many films about Nazis and Hitler, but even though this movie touches on the same subject, it takes a way more interesting angle. Instead of focusing on Hitler himself, it follows the story of Hermann Göring, the man considered second-in-command after Hitler (or basically the one who took over after Hitler’s suicide), and how he faces judgment through the perspective of Douglas Kelley, the famous prison psychiatrist involved in the historical Nuremberg Trials. The film also shows how the legal system and international law tried to bring genocide perpetrators to justice, along with all the manipulation and psychological mind games happening behind the scenes to dodge accountability. This was honestly such a unique and gripping watch. The beginning feels really slow, but trust me, stick with it because the movie is carefully building everything up little by little until it finally hits hard. It’s the perfect definition of a slow burn done right. Technically, the film is also super polished and well-crafted, and with actors like Rami Malek and Russell Crowe in the cast, the performances are obviously solid. Overall, it’s just a haunting, tragic, and surprisingly graphic experience. If you’re into European history, especially World War II and its aftermath, you should definitely check this one out. It’s absolutely worth it, this movie genuinely made me want to dive deeper into the real history behind everything.
