I forgot how good this movie was My mom likes it a lot, and being a moody teenager who naturally hated everything to do with her parents I remembered this movie in a really bad light. But upon rewatching it I realized that this movie is genuinely so good. I had never realized how important it was for my mom to see main characters with bodies like hers, who even though their weight was part of their plot, they weren't just that, in fact they were absolute divas. Representation is so important. Tracy is actually the character who represents exactly who I wanna be. She is kind, whimsy and she stays happy even throughout the hardest parts of the movie, but she is fierce when she needs to be and goes out of her way to make things fair for everybody, I'm putting her on my vision board. Also this was how I realized that Zac Efron is 38 and not 58, I was shocked to see him acting with Amanda Bynes, I thought those two were from completely different generations. This is like when I found out Amy Winehouse didn't die in the 60s and in fact her and Taylor Swift were both nominated for best new artist in 2007 Growing up I always remembered Tracys iconic dress in the finale, but just now, watching it for the thousand time, I realized she was wearing a checkered print to state her point that both black people and white people should coexist is the same spaces. So creative!
