holy fucking shit. I’m not typically a big fan of movies, nor do I leave huge reviews, NOR am I easily scared by horror movies, but this movie changed EVERYTHING. I’ve never screamed or teared up from a movie before this one. This is genuinely the scariest movie I’ve ever seen. I went into this movie knowing absolutely nothing, watching no trailers. (my friend n her sister invited me on a whim :3) The uncanniness Nicki portrays had me clutching to my friend every time something felt uneasy. Her expressions were so scary. I think the part that really got me was when she started moving backwards during one of her freakouts. People seeming normal on the outside but acting completely uncanny or in a way that is not humanly possible is one of the BIGGEST things I’m afraid of and I wasn’t expecting to find it in this movie, since most horror movies (typically from big franchises) aren’t even that scary. Another part that completely shocked me was when we find out the lunch Nicki made for Bear was his cat. I gasped so loud when it hit me. I felt a little bad for Bear at the beginning but then you can just tell how much he’s doubling down and that he’s actually the bad person in this movie. I liked the way the movie was filmed, and I think there are definitely some meaning to the shots, like the ones where Bear is reflected in mirrors, Nicki being in the dark, while Bear is in the light. I also think it’s HORRIFYING that the real Nicki still has her consciousness. I think the comedic parts mixed in with the horror is a little iffy in it working or not. The songs in the movie were such a throwback to 2019!! Heavily, HEAVILY recommend this movie, bring a buddy.
