A very pleasant surprise and a highly effective romantic comedy! The movie successfully delivers a story that is fresh, fast-paced, and funny, while also showing a surprising amount of depth. It beautifully tackles powerful themes such as the weight of tradition, protocol, politics, and above all, self-acceptance in the face of public scrutiny. The absolute highlight of the film is undeniably its casting. The lead actors are incredible, sharing a fantastic on-screen chemistry, and they carry the story with a lot of charm and sincerity. My only slight critique lies in some of the directing and writing choices. At times, the script and the acting style overexplain things to the audience. These overly emphasized moments of exposition create minor pacing issues and occasionally cause a slight disconnect from the narrative. Overall, it remains a very enjoyable, well-paced, and heartwarming movie. A great modern rom-com !
