you ever heard someone saying "don't watch this media if you don't want to ruin your life because nothing will ever feel the same and be as good as this media after that"? yeah that's practically the entire 8 episode of the first ever season of this masterpiece of a series. if i want to exaggerate, only watch this series if you are absolutely certain you’re going to die soon. the first season of this series is so perfect that EVERYTHING else will feel DULL and INSIPID afterwards. such is the fate of those who dared to watch this LEGENDARY series. aight, i will stop with the hyperbole. True Detective (season 1) is a masterpiece in its direction and atmosphere, with numerous themes woven subtly between the lines of the investigation and its characters: spirituality, power networks, influence, religion, collapse, life and death, decay and rebirth of things and individuals, and so on. It takes no real stance, instead engaging in a dark, unsettling balancing act that serves the work’s aesthetic and its overall sense of transcendence. and needless to say, flawless acting performances from every cast, mainly matthew mcconaughey and woody harrelson. it's no wonder that this was the one media that kick-started the mcconaissance at that time, with wolf of the wall street, dallas buyers club, and interstellar following to solidify mcconaughey as one of the best actor of the decade.
"you get any sleep last night?" "i don't sleep, i just dream"
