극본을 읽으며 상상했던 테사는 되도록 울지 않는 강인한 여성이었는데 무너지는 그의 모습을 코앞에서 목도하는 것은 곧 차가운 현실이었다. 배심원을 내보내고서라도 할말을 하고 마는 테사의 용기가, 의미 없을지라도 재판에 나와 증언하는 제나의 용기가, 테사의 마지막 대사 "Something has to change"를 마음속에 지니고 행동하는 우리 여성의 용기가 세상을 바꾼다. A woman's experience of sexual assault does not fit the male-defined system of truth. So it cannot be truth, and therefore there cannot be justice. The law has been shaped by generations and generations of men. We do not interrogate the law's own assumptions. Instead, we persist in interrogating the victim. The law is an organic thing. Defined by us. Constructed by us, in light of our experiences. All of ours, and so, there are no excuses any more.
