Honestly, the last part of this drama completely ruined what could have been a beautiful ending. What made it worse is how the main characters suddenly seemed to lose their intelligence. Jiang Li (Xue Fangfei), who had been portrayed as a very smart and strategic woman throughout the drama, suddenly turned into someone passive who only waited around after completing her revenge. It felt completely out of character for someone who had been written as such a sharp and capable protagonist Xiao Heng, played by Wang Xingyue, also suffered from the same problem near the end. After losing his left and right-hand men, his decisions became strangely irrational, especially when he confidently rejected the king’s order to request additional troops. ow gosh!
