SERU BGT HAHAHHAH. For anyone planning to watch this, go in with the lowest expectations possible and don’t even bother reading the synopsis or watching the trailer, you’ll probably fall in love with it. The heavy marketing around this film honestly set the wrong expectations, making it seem like we were about to attend the glamorous wedding reception of Mas Robert and Mbak Zendaya. Sure, they’re both huge stars, but I’m not the biggest fan of them. Still, the way the marketing kept pushing them made me even more curious and excited to watch, like come on, this is A24 and Borgli also Ari Aster (as Producer) we’re talking about. Also, Alana Haim? You were amazing, sis. No regrets stanning the HAIM sisters, you’re such a badass here and you really owned the role. And yeah, just like the title suggests, "The Drama" is literally packed with drama. I swear, anyone who loves gossiping, whether it’s at the office, with neighbors in the suburban, or just in general, will eat this up and probably find it super relatable too hahaha😅 I watched this in the late afternoon when I was already pretty tired after a full day out, but because the story is simple, light, and pretty direct, it was super easy to follow. It ended up being genuinely entertaining. The film has this clean, simple aesthetic that still feels classy, and it stays consistent throughout. The soundtrack is spot on, and there are these slightly uncomfortable effects sprinkled in that actually work really well with the film’s overall vibe instead of feeling out of place. Honestly, this felt like such a fresh experience for me, Kristoffer Borgli, I’m not familiar with your game forgive me. I need to check out all your other works now. I won’t say too much about the story, but seriously the moral story are be careful with your words, and if you’re sure about someone and planning to spend your life with them, just be honest about who you are, both the good and the bad. One small nitpick though: the ending didn’t fully satisfy me. I guess we’re going back to that magic phrase again: “let’s start over again.” Anyway, this is getting too long. Bottom line: if you’re gonna watch it, just go in blind and don’t look anything up.
