this movie is everything i've been waiting for, and more. 🥹 i'll admit i was a little nervous about Ariana and Cynthia stepping into such iconic roles, but WOW, they crushed it. Ariana as Glinda nailed all the mannerisms. from her broadway-level vocals to the little Glinda mannerisms (the hair toss in 'Popular'?), she hit every vocal high note like it was nothing. Ari clearly poured her heart into this role, and it shows. she really gave us Glinda in her truest form! and Cynthia Erivo? speechless. 🥹 she is hands-down the standout of the film. her Elphaba is strong, vulnerable, and just SOoO real. "The Wizard and I"? that dance scene?? stunning. she gave everything and then some. honestly, this performance puts her up there with the all-time greats for me. the film’s design is next level stunning. the sets, costumes, and colors felt like a magical theme park ride, at least for me. i also loved the subtle changes they made... lke adding more of Glinda's childhood and tweaking Fiyero's charm (yes, he's still a lovable goofball). and that cameo... from Idina and Kristin? AAAAAA SO special! but the real star here is how this movie pulls every emotion out of you. Wicked made me laugh, cry, and get so mad at certain moments. i was moved beyond words; it's like every scene reached straight into my soul. it's been so long since a movie made me feel this much. of i had to nitpick, the sound mixing wasn't perfect, sometimes the orchestra overpowered the vocals, but honestly, that's such a small thing in the grand scheme. overall, this movie was everything o hoped for and more. it’s heartwarming, nostalgic, and just so, so magical. Jon M. Chu, Ariana, Cynthia, and the entire cast created something magical here. i can’t wait for Part 2 because this first half was pure cinematic joy. if you haven’t seen it yet, what are you waiting for? trust me, it’s worth every second. 🥹✨
