watched this at 9PM in The Premiere and honestly… good call, because this movie is weirdly exhausting to sit through. went in with expectations (mistake). it feels like a mix of The Exorcist and Evil Dead Rise… but like a toned-down, less intense version. the horror gets repetitive, and there are so many moments that almost go hard, and then just… stop?? like it builds tension only to drop it for no reason. frustrating after a while. the pacing is sloooow. and the runtime feels longer than it deserves. the plot kinda drags without a satisfying payoff, and idk… even the mummy design was a bit underwhelming. also the dad character felt off. instead of a father carrying emotional weight, he came across more like a generic action lead. the human side just didn’t land, so the emotional connection wasn’t really there. which is a shame, because there was actually potential to explore family trauma more deeply, but they didnt really go for it. and the ending... felt forced into being 'happy' which doesn't sit right after everything that happened. but ngl, it still left some kind of impact. maybe because of the use of Arabic / ancient Egyptian language, it made things feel oddly grounded and closer in a way. the scoring, visuals, and gore were decent too. overall, it kinda picks up in the last 1/4, but the rest is pretty forgettable. not terrible, but yeah… not something i'd revisit.
