I did not expect this story to hit so hard. Making Space is quiet and eerie, but underneath it all, it is about motherhood, about longing, about desperation, about what it means to want something so deeply it blinds you. Jess's need to be a mother is raw and painful. When she finds Buddy, something shifts. He is strange, silent, and clearly not from here, but she sees what she wants to see. Chris's reaction, his obvious infidelity, the tension between them, the way the story spirals. It all felt so real and so wrong. If Rebecca ever decides to expand this, I would read it in a heartbeat!
