Where do I even start... Okay, so, this show definitely has an interesting premise. A young teenage girl who possesses the power of flames from an all powerful cloak and is against an evil that wants her powers which enables her from having a normal life. She herself wasn't trained for most of her childhood, so we start the story with her learning how to use them with the help of her grandmother, Gugu. It only has one season, but I feel like a lot of arcs were tremendously rushed. Like, the training of Jentry was literally just one episode, Michael's ability was never explained, didn't learn about Gugu's background, Kit simply died after all his character development and not to mention Jentry's parents with their mostly unexplained past. Though, I do understand that there may have been some fear by the creators that the show would be canceled because it aired on Netflix. But I think a better written ending would've been much nicer than having arcs start and end after just one episode. What I do give a 10/10 is the intro song for sure.

Animation is great and all but the writing is lacking in a couple of things... I did think the premise is cool though!

Wonderful, amazing, showstopper, stunning, radiant, creative, 10/10, jaw dropping show ever. Seeing a main girl character who uses her intellect for necessity and it having nothing to do with her gender is something I didn't realize was missing until now. Most often, writers make the smart girl be the trope of "pretty but smart", "ugly but intelligent" or "underestimated for being a girl but actually the smartest". it's always tied to their gender, but with Maomao, she simply uses it when it's asked of her and not because she wants to prove to someone that she's better. She already knows that she is good at what she does. Seriously, having a girl lead like her is so refreshing and needs more attention. Aside from that, the show is so good at showing logical solutions to "mysterious" cases around the palace. Keeps you entertained every time. Definitely a one of a kind show.

Hm, not sure what to say in regards to this show. Best I can tell is that the animation is as good ever and the pacing is slowly getting somewhere. I'm sure it's a slower paced show in order to make us connect with the characters over time. Compared to most animes with magic, I like that it takes it's time. Other shows just skip to the climax so quickly or we have brief memorable moments between characters together. This story does well in allowing us to follow a journey with time and care. But anyway, really wish there was more fan art of Heiter. 😭💔

WOWZA. WOWZA. WOWZA. WOWZA. WHATTTTTT a show! Very much enjoyed watching this. Finished the whole series in a week. The art style, character dynamics and the mystery are so amazing to watch that I couldn't stay away from my screen. Just kept hitting me back to back with more interesting things that had to do with the characters before they started the games. Although in my opinion I believe season one had better writing than season two, it did good for the run it has. Because as we all know, Netflix was in-charge of publishing this show. And, when you have a really underrated show with horrible marketing what do you get? CANCELED. So yeah, I would have loved it if the show had the chance to continue with more seasons to explore the characters with their new life's and how they would treat their new world. But hey, you get what you can get. Overall, favorite character? Adam 🙏

Great animation, consistent storyline and a good movie to show what determination can do. Really enjoyed watching it. Some scenes can be a bit longer than they should but besides that it does good in every other aspect. I didn't give it exactly five stars simply because it felt like a generic story but still, it's a solid movie.

Wasn't bad, wasn't good, just decent. Might watch the second film, but overall enjoyable enough to pass the time.

I have to thank my younger self for finding random YouTubers reacting to this show. Without them, I would've never known this masterpiece of a show. Besides that, animation is pretty solid for the time that it came out. Not to mention the hair effects to look like actual crystals. Soundtrack is beautiful, storyline is very consistent and the plot takes its time (no rush). After watching this show, I read the manga and wow, now THAT is a whole other world. This show is a good way to get into the fandom. I mean, it's quite literally all we fans have. There hasn't been any news of a season 2 so we kinda have to suck out all the content of this show to make up for the drought of any potential renewal. Phos in McDonald's is the best thing I've ever experienced in this fandom. Yup.

Literally the definition of "absolute cinema". Nothing can describe what this manga feels from begining to end. Anyone reading this, READ THE MANGA. If you're into deep philosophy, religious symbolism, change, process of grief, outcast, experience, and different dynamics from multiple characters. This is the one. Best of luck on your journey, and make sure to be ready for a handful of emotions while reading it.

SLIGHT spoilers! I was scrolling through Netflix to see on what to watch next, and I had this series added on my list. Mainly because of one of Esmes fashion choice (the circus one), really caught my attention. But I had no idea what the show was about besides the description. I had no prior media knowledge, and wow, I wasn't going to be ready even if I saw clips. I really enjoyed how the story takes you to multiple locations and doesn't keep you in one. Though, I have to say that I hated how no one recognized Count Olaf when in disguise (I'm pointing fingers at you Mr. Poe). And, I still have many questions left on the show. Like, what was the life's of the Baudelaire parents before being recruited? or, anyone really. What was Aunt Josephine before she became afraid? How did everyone become connected in the VFD? So many questions left unanswered, but, hopefully Lemony hears the answers from his niece.

This movie was average at best. Not too many crazy scenes nor plot. Just a simple group of gals ready to steal a grand piece of jewelry. Would I re-watch this? Nope! Just feels like it could've been a series, actually, I think if it were then it would've had more time to explain what happened to the protagonist while in jail (especially how she figures out her plan). But anyway, that's all.

Really lovely animation, I wasn't expecting the movie to show actual death that comes from nature. Though it does help Roz to understand her situation in upbringing her son. The dynamic of Roz and Fink was so nice, I see them as maybe a couple but also just friends. Really up to interpretation. I see that this movie is based off a book series so I might read it. Overall, nice and cozy movie to watch when you want a small pace of things.

Wow, honestly I think the first season had way better writing than the second. I got so confused about the plot holes in the second season. The ending was definitely something, a lil too on the nose about "impossible" things happening. I wouldn't really watch this again.

SPOILERS! In every social media app (I use) I saw this movie being recommended. Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. With such positive commentary on the movie I thought "ah, sounds like a good movie. I should watch it". And now that I have, well, it really doesn't live up to it's praise. I was under the assumption that (SPOILER) Rachel Chu was making her stand in leaving? She told Nick's mother that either decision wouldn't work so that's why she left. But instead, she accepts the proposal. I feel like that was very anti-clamatic. She could have left Nick's mother ponder about her decisions with the "happiness" she chose for her son. It could've been a good way to show that Rachel valued herself enough to not stay for something that could never be, and that being the mothers approval. Heck, she even said it herself "I'm not leaving 'cause I'm scared or because because I think I'm not enough. Because maybe for the first time in my life, I know I am". Well, this is just my opinion after all. Just wished the movie was as good as people said or at least consistent with what Rachel chose originally.

Man this song talks about such a dark time for the singer and you can really feel it through his lyrics. For lack of a better word, the story telling of his life and how it scarred his life including his mother's is gut wrenching. This is one of those songs you listen to once and never forget the feeling it gives during that first hearing.

I was quite surprised with all the story they managed to put in this film with such a short amount of time. The song covers are nice and I really liked the architecture of the school. This movie was interesting enough to actually make me search for more of it. Can't wait for the second movie!

Watched it maybe three years ago, but it was life changing. Amazing animation, story telling and whimsy! Out of all Ghibli Studios movies, this one is my favorite.
