the "manic pixie dream girl". clementine is identified by this trope. i can't explain so well but i hate it (i wish my mind was articulate enough to do that) BUT SHE IS SO ME. the countless times i saw myself in her, i wanted to crawl out to my skin. I DON'T LIKE IT like how she was so impulsive, if i would be in a relationship, i would definitely do the same thing — anyways, this is so beautiful. the part when they were jumping from memory to memory, the scene where joel was forced to kill a bird, and then there's clementine, they were just kids. "i wished i knew you when i was a kid" and it's just so precious and it add depths to their relationship. like how clementine doesn't even know about a thing about joel (because he refused to tell about himself, he thinks he's boring) and she's rediscovering this man whom she loved. and it's just so beautiful for me, and that's what i love about this film. we sometimes just need to look for a reason to fall in love again with someone we've already already fallen for.
