A sad, emotional, and very encouraging film. It doesn't matter how many times you fall; if you love what you do, that will always help you get back up and continue pursuing your dreams. Mike and Claire live to sing—no matter how, when, or where. After meeting at an impersonator show at a fair, they decide to create a Neil Diamond tribute band, giving birth to "Lightning" and "Thunder." This film breaks away from conventional biopics, starting with the fact that it doesn't tell the story of a music legend. From what I understood, they weren't even a nationally known band, just a simple local duo—but that doesn't mean their story isn't worth telling; quite the opposite. Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson do a fantastic job, both in their acting and their singing. The chemistry between the two is immense, creating magic on screen. Even without being a Neil Diamond fan, I was able to enjoy the movie and leave feeling—though a bit sad—full of hope. It reminds us that if we set our minds to it and follow our hearts, no matter what comes our way, together we can achieve it. Highly recommended.
