A different kind of musical that blends drama with the idealized style of classic 1950s musicals. It’s a bit slow-paced, but well-produced. Luis, a gay man, is arrested for indecent exposure in public. In his cell, he meets Valentín, a revolutionary political prisoner who holds information that could topple the Argentine dictatorship. Their relationship grows as Luis—a superfan of musicals, especially those starring Ingrid Luna—recounts the plot of his favorite film, "Kiss of the Spider Woman." The movie oscillates between the colorful world of the musical (filled with songs and choreography) and the raw, somber reality the two characters face in their cold, gray cell—a place that, despite everything, remains full of hope. Tonatiuh (Luis) steals the show with spectacular vocals, holding his own alongside Jennifer Lopez, who plays Ingrid Luna. Diego Luna (Valentín) provides the necessary gravity to the story. He makes an attempt at singing and... well, you have to give him credit for the effort. For musical fans, I’d say it’s a must-watch, though don't go in expecting something "spectacular." For those who aren't big fans of the genre, I’m not so sure they’ll enjoy it as much.
