This story is only available in audio, which is both a blessing and a personal challenge. The story itself is super engaging and very well written. The banter is sharp, the pacing works, and the tension builds exactly the way you want it to. I did not DNF, even though I was tempted, because the plot had me in a chokehold. I powered through purely because the story was good. But gods help me, the narrator. I don’t know what choices were made here, but the way she delivers certain lines made listening feel unnecessarily difficult. it’s that the narration actively pulled me out of moments that should have hit harder. Finishing this audiobook felt like endurance, not relaxation. Spice level is about 2.5/5 🌶️. Nothing wild, nothing unhinged. But the YEARNING? Oh, that’s where this book shines. Slow burn, tension-heavy, emotionally charged longing that hurts in a way I enjoy. That’s exactly how I like it. Final thoughts: If this were available in text, I’d probably love it even more. As an audio-only experience, it’s a mixed bag. Strong story, frustrating narration, elite yearning. Worth it, but brace yourself.
