ㅤㅤ ┈ᯓ★i drove out with my family tonight to attend my first ever star party ᐢᗜᐢ there's an island in the middle of the great salt lake called antelope island and it's a good distance away from all the lights of the cities making it the best place to see the stars ! ! ٠ ࣪⭑ ㅤㅤ this was my first time ever visiting the island too which is a little insane honestly because i've lived right next to it for over a decade at this point oops . this was so fun though! i definitely need to come back during the day at some point. unfortunately this week was the last star party of the year because it gets really really cold in the fall and winter. even tonight i was shivering a little bit and pretending i definitely wasn't cold. ㅤㅤ i was able to get some pictures but even with my fancy phone you really can't compare pictures to what i actually saw. the sky was so clear and empty that you could clearly see the curvature of the planet in the stars, And we could see the milky way which was so cool to see with my own eyes. there was a bunch of people who'd brought their telescopes and i kind of regret not going to look through any of them.. i really gotta come back next year. ㅤㅤ though the stars were beautiful, my favorite part of this was laying on the dirt in the dark with my family just laughing together while we star gazed. next time i'm gonna bring a thermos of cocoa or soup or something so we can stay warm longer 🙏 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣴⣶⡀ ⠀⠀⢠⣤⡀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⣠⣤⣾⠏⠘⠿⣦⣤ ⠀⠀⣾⠉⠻⢶⠶⠛⢻⡇⠀⠀⠀⠘⢻⡦⠀⠀⢰⡾⠃ ⢀⣤⠿⠀⠀⠀⠀⢠⡟⠁⠀⠀⠀⠀⠸⠷⠿⠿⣾⣷ ⢿⣥⣀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⢻⡆ ⠀⠈⠉⣿⣀⣾⠟⠛⠋⠁ ⠀⠀⠀⠘⠛⠁

ㅤ٠࣪⭑ meal prepping for the week but this turned out so fun it deserves its own post. banana bread flights are the easiest and tastiest thing to make i could live off of them fr. the reason this doesn't get a 5 star rating is well. i unfortunately omitted sugar on accident 😭 which flavor wise didn't effect much, since i had added a bit of agave to the bananas at the beginning. but in baking typically sugar is also structurally necessary so the texture of these isn't quite what it could be sadly but they still taste preeeetty damn good !! ㅤㅤㅤthe flavors i did were carrot cake, espresso chocolate chip, cinnamon sugar topped, raspberry cheesecake, choconut, and one chocolate and peanut butter one that i'm excited to try later. the espresso chocolate chip smelled too good for me to save it i gobbled it up almost seconds after taking out of the oven and immediately wished i had made a second one haha. the base recipe i used was by foodwishes, but the concept of a banana bread flight i took inspiration from bakingwithyuka !

ㅤㅤ٠࣪⭑ i was feeling like ice cream but ended up with the banana and date situation because i watched a documentary today about the entire history of bananas and it made me want some too. learned today that women in hawaii weren't allowed to eat or even Touch bananas without recieving the literal death penalty until 1819 because they were thought to be the embodiment of the god kanaloa. and for some reason that meant only men could eat them apparently? i have added a lot of things to my research further list today but that aside this was sooo yummy, if you haven't tried it i highly reccomend. just make sure you cook it on a lower heat at first so nothing burns, the dates will burn fast.

ㅤㅤ٠࣪⭑ silly little practical "craft" !! i hesitate to call this a craft because painting a single button and tacking a sticker on the back of it does not a craft make but i certainly had fun doing it. ㅤㅤㅤ i was inspired by the button cookies from coraline (also on my list of things to try making) but i needed something to put these nfc tags on because my plan is to have them everywhere and they need to look cute for that. my job is pretty physically and mentally draining. i've been managing getting the big things done pretty well but lowering the cost of initiation for my daily routines has been changing the gameee. ㅤㅤㅤ an example of what i do specifically is that the button i scan when i get home from work turns on smart ambient lights on low so i don't need to turn on unnecessary fluorescence, turns on my sleep playlist, and lowers my phone brightness+turns on the blue light filter to max. i eventually want to set up these automated routines for as many things as possible 🙏

ㅤㅤ٠࣪⭑ before getting into the good i should probably clarify that the first trial of water kefir with raspberry and lemon did not, in fact, pan out. the carbonation never came and the raspberries looked rotten by the end.. i did take a sip and it tasted not horrible but i was afraid to try more 😰 ㅤㅤㅤbuuuuut the great news is that my second batch turned out nearly perfect! i say as if i even know what perfect looks like in this context but we got both carbonation and wonderful flavor so i think we got it folks!!!! i love bananas so dearly, if that was not already clear from my previous 600 posts about banana bread. naturally the next step in my love for bananas had to come in probiotic soda form. ㅤㅤㅤ now that i think about it i don't think i've ever had regular banana soda before this so i can't really compare it to anything but i will say it turned out so much creamier than i was expecting. there was no milk added at any point in the process but this tastes almost like a fizzy banana milkshake.

ㅤㅤ٠࣪⭑ i don't know how it happened but banana bread has become an almost ritualistic part of my weekly routine. settling in with a long video essay, doing my life planning, and laundry in between taking batches out of the oven>> ㅤㅤㅤ sadly there will probably be a banana bread break after this though because frankly my freezer can't possibly hold more. if only i had friends that didn't live hundreds of miles away to give some away to, allowing me to bake to my heart's content 🥀 ㅤㅤㅤ i went a little overboard, bananas if you will, with the flavors this time. my two base flavors this week were chocolate and a new entry of peanut butter! i replaced half the flour with peanut butter powder and it turned out so good. the chocolate batter ended up exclusively with the samoa girl scout cookie mix ins because i was nooot satisfied with only having just 3 last week. ㅤㅤㅤ the peanut butter batter was turned into peanut butter and jelly, peanut butter chocolate, and in a questionable turn of events: peanut butter and goldfish 😁 the goldfish wasn't planned.. clearly. but i got a white chocolate and goldfish cookie recipe on my fyp the other day and i physically can't stop thinking about it. my favorite flavor combination is also sweet and salty sooo this was just the natural course of things. ㅤㅤㅤ believe it or not but the goldfish one turned out pretty damn good. the only thing i would change if i make this again would be to crush up the pieces going inside smaller and add more on top. the big pieces inside went a little wonky but the flavor is so good u gotta trust me. and the ones on top got all crunchy it was perfect. maybe i'd add white chocolate chips next time too like the cookie recipe.

ㅤㅤ٠࣪⭑ based on ranpo edogawa's 'a brute's love', this short film has to be my personal favorite calarts final for this year by far. the uses of color, symbolism, texture, perspective, god the entire thing is so wonderfully executed. each individual shot of this 4 minute film could easily be hung up in a museum i'm so glad to have stumbled upon it, please go take the time to check it out for yourself !!!
