the excellent performances and fantastic music carried. the musical’s second act was already a huge mess so I didn’t expect much when it came to the plot but they somehow managed to make the viewing experience way worse with the atrocious lighting and color grading (no exaggeration my eyes hurt me while watching) istg every time I see pictures of the beautiful sets my heart breaks a little because we didn’t get to enjoy their full potential

first time listening to J-pop and I’m in love! such a perfect morning album I can’t wait to listen to it while driving to uni

always heard of JAWS and saw references to it in a lot of American media, but this is my first time actually sitting down to watch it. this film absolutely deserves the iconic status it’s in. I found the performances and dialogue to be realistic and grounded, accompanied by well executed suspense that made every crucial moment exciting and intense. I have to admit the few jump scares did work on me, but in my defense, I’m usually not this easily spooked by jump scares, but I have a huge fear of the ocean sooo :) one thing I found really frustrating is how a 70s film looks way better than so many of today’s films. We need to bring back the art of cinematography, because the washed-out, grey-looking films we have now are NOT it! on a more sad note, I went on a little side quest and discovered that this film (and original novel) is one of the biggest reasons behind misinformation around sharks which might’ve caused the killing of millions of them :(

listening to this song brings me immense comfort. Fiona is such a brilliant songwriter. every line she writes is a full story with so much depth and rich emotion

It's been a while since I last watched this, and honestly it’s even better than I remembered. to me the book is still superior but that doesn’t take away from how amazing this adaptation was! The animation is absolutely stunning and really brought the world of the book to life! and the storytelling is incredible!

so Spotify decided to release a good Wrapped when I switched to Apple Music 🙄 the graphics and categories are way better than last year. i really liked the little quiz to guess our top song and the Artists race was pretty fun too, but my favorite addition has to be the listening archive!

always loved Coraline growing up and I finally got a chance to read the book. I can understand how can someone read this and immediately wants to make a whole animated film about it. the descriptions of the world make such a vivid image, and the illustrations added a beautifully haunting touch that I loved. one of my favorite moments in the book has to be Coraline telling the story of her dad saving her from wasps. it shows beautifully where she got her immense courage from.

THIS WAS INSANE i was literally on the edge of my couch the whole time. kinda mad at myself for not watching it sooner, it’s immediately one of my favorite films.

saw someone say “if Pixar had made this everyone would think it’s a masterpiece” and I completely agree! it’s such an underrated film, a classic in my book

Lovely animation, lots of fun songs, adorable animal characters and an interesting story. this film would’ve been really good if only Prince Derek wasn’t so unlikable. not only was he rude to Princess Odette over the years for literally no reason. he also doesn’t show any interest or respect until he thinks she’s pretty. he even calls her an ugly duckling to her face 😐and when she asked him if he loved her for anything other than her beauty he has the audacity to say “what else is there?” wtf? They tried to redeem him later on but honestly it didn’t work for me especially with the fact that the majority of the film focuses on his story rather than Odette’s :(

I've heard about Substack so much in the past few months that I decided to give it a try today. Expectation: • only articles and essays • no typical social media posts (like tweets or threads) • more educated content Reality: • people can post whatever basically, so there’s a lot of the typical viral content only more “aesthetic” • a lot of the essays I’ve got on the home page lacked effort and felt like they were written after a quick Google search • so so so performative. evrey other post is about how different and special people who use the app are. Maybe the app’s algorithm is bad? I’m sure there’s good content out there but it seems to need some digging to find.

Went to the doctor today for a check-up, and it seems my meds aren’t working so I’ll be needing some more tests. God I’m so stressed about it I just hope it’s nothing serious

last day of rewatching all of Stranger Things previous seasons to prepare for season 5 :) i remember not liking this season when it first came out, but tbh i enjoyed rewatching it. my biggest gripe with this season is how slow it feels even tho the plot was moving relatively well. i think that’s due to some of the plot lines being kinda unnecessary or dragged a bit (saving Hopper, the boys looking for El, clearing Eddie’s name) didn’t write that many notes this time, but here they are anyway: • poor El doesn’t deserve to go through this 💔 • i’m 100% on Lucas’s side. i can’t believe Mike and Dustin are seriously asking him to ditch a tournament's final for some stupid D&D game smh • am i the only one who doesn’t care about Eddie? • i’m sick of stancy. can’t the writers come up with something more interesting for the older teens?? it’s really getting boring • Lumax are the best couple on the show it’s not even a debate. i literally cried (again) watching Max almost die in Lucas’s arms. all of their scenes this season broke my heart 💔 • why is Vicky just another Robin in a slightly different font? favorite characters this season: Max Lucas El

Day 3 of rewatching all of stranger things previous seasons to prepare for season 5 :) the Marvel-ification of Stranger Things begins here, but i can still admit it was an entertaining watch! silly notes time!!: • the evil Russians plot is kinda lazy. i mean it’s one of the most overused tropes in american media couldn’t they come up with something more interesting? • Mike and El are too clingy i get why Hopper wants them apart but i wouldn’t go as far as some people and say it’s an unhealthy obsession • netflix gave them way too much budget. • those assholes at Nancy's job make my blood boil every time they’re on screen • Hopper’s evil smirk after breaking up El and Mike is taking me out he’s so proud of himself lmao • Dustin’s and Steve’s friendship is the cutest thing ever! • Max and El’s duo is really fun we should’ve gotten more time with them • poor Will he just wanted to play D&D • Joyce is the only person with critical thinking in this town • Hopper and Joyce are RUTHLESS when working together i love this side of their dynamic • Nancy’s scenes this season are really good, the argument with Jonathan and the discussion with her mom all showcase her character struggles so well • “you can’t spell America without Erica” damn right • they really tried (and FAILED) to recreate Bob’s character with this alxie huh • El’s first fight with Billy was EPIC, i just think small-scale fights are always better than the huge ones • Robin’s coming-out scene is so beautiful • Hopper and Joyce's bickering got old real quick • they overdid the comedy. by the end of the season i was sick of all the quips thrown at us every 2 minutes • Suzy and Dustin singing together was cute and all but definitely ruined the momentum • controversial take: Hopper should’ve stayed dead, that ending scene was perfect there was no need to undo it favorite characters this season: Robin Dustin Max / El Steve

Day 2 of rewatching all of stranger things previous seasons to prepare for season 5 :) I recently discovered that people don’t like this season for some reason?? personally i enjoyed it way more than season 1 🫣 i guess objectively speaking season 1 was a better season of television, but season 2 has more rewatching value since the mystery doesn’t feel like the sole focus and we spend more time on character-driven plots making it actually fun to rewatch. here are some of my silly notes: • Max is the best addition to the cast. i really can’t imagine the show without her • Hopper was too hard on El, she’s a traumatized child that was imprisoned for all her life and when she finally gets her freedom you take it away again?? • I LOVE BOB • whoever thought of pairing Steve with Dustin, I LOVE YOU YOU’RE A GENIUS literally one of the best tv duos ever created • if Steve Harrington has no fans, it’s because i’m dead • I get why everyone hates “The Lost Sister.” I’m sorry, but did they really waste Jane’s mother on this stupid storyline and think people would like it?? the idea of another kid escaping Hokines lab then meeting El and having a sisterly bond with her isn’t bad at all, but they execute it terribly. • Bob’s death was completely unnecessary smh • my girl Nancy is so smart she single handedly shut down a government agency (that detective was there too ig 🙄) • Joyce went through so much i need her to get a happy ending without losing anyone she loves favorite characters this season: Steve Joyce Dustin Max Nancy
